CALLING ALL PLAYWRIGHTS

Seeking Full-Length Plays for our upcoming Premiere Season Finale Event

PLAYWRIGHTS TAKE THE STAGE: OPEN DOOR

The Players’ Theatre Committee is seeking a new play to conclude our inaugural season of programming. This is a chance to have work heard aloud, amongst a supportive audience of theatre-makers and lovers.

After deliberation three plays will receive personal feedback from our professional Players community.

Including:
• Academy Award-winning screenwriter, ALEX DINELARIS
• Two time Pulitzer Prize Nominee for Drama, GINA GIONFRIDDO
• Guest Artist: TBA

One of the three plays, in collaboration with the playwright, will culminate in a staged reading in the theatre space at The Players on June 14, 2019.

Rehearsal space, casting, and direction will be provided. Pulitzer Prize, Tony and Academy Award-winning writer JOHN PATRICK SHANLEY will be in attendance and providing personal feedback to the playwright after the event.

NOTE: DO NOT SUBMIT PLAYS VIA FACEBOOK. ALL PLAYS MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLY TO THE EMAIL LISTED BELOW.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

• Play may not have been produced at The Players or under an Equity Showcase contract for NYC in the past 12 months or 29 Hour Reading Contract in the past 6 months
• Must be between 45-90 minutes in length, no more than 95 pages

Please be sure to format your play in a standard fashion (quick guideline as follows):

 Paper size: 8.5” x 11”
 Font: Times New Roman, Courier or comparable. Font Size: 12-point
 Margins: 1 inch all around
 Include: Title page & Character page
 Page Numbers (must be numbered): Start numbering with the first scene
 Please indicate: Acts, Scenes, Blackouts
 Proper spacing between dialogue

Two Copies (Word or PDF) submitted electronically to THEPLAYERSNYC.PLAYSUBMISSIONS@GMAIL.COM
o Please submit 2 versions, one with identifying information and one without
o Plays without identifying information will be distributed electronically to the Theatre Committee for objective vetting
o For administrative reasons, we are unable to accept hard copies

• Plays (2 versions) submitted to theplayersnyc.playsubmissions@gmail.com (monitored by the Theatre Committee Secretary only)
• Plays with playwrights’ names will be kept by committee secretary until the final three selections are made
• Plays without identifying information will be shared with all eligible Theatre Committee members
