The League of Professional Theatre Women

champions women+ in theatre.

LPTW is committed to creating a culture of EDIAEquity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Access.

We value the individual talents, skills, and craftsmanship that embody our vast theatrical industry. When we say “Theatre Women,” we include the representation of all of our varied identities—race, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity (female, transgender, or gender non-conforming), national origin, caste, tribe, socio-economic status, thinking and communication styles, etc.

LPTW encourages a culture of Equity: advancing fair treatment to all members and those seeking to join, including access to information and resources within the League. Diversity: understanding that each individual is unique, and therefore acknowledging all of our differences within our membership with grace and respect. Inclusion: seeking to build and nurture an organization of belonging by actively urging all members to contribute and attract members who identify as professional theatre womxn. Access: supporting an environment that provides all individuals an opportunity to participate in our events, programs, benefits, and services.

By embracing and being committed to these principles, LPTW will provide a path to a greater understanding of its members and how best to be of service to one another. We welcome you to be a part of the League of Professional Theatre Women—we need your creativity, your activism, your voice.

Who: Our membership includes artists and practitioners of all backgrounds, across multiple disciplines, working in the commercial and non-profit sectors.

What: We advocate for opportunities and visibility for professional theatre women+.

How: The League connects members with colleagues in artist service groups and performing arts organizations in the U.S. and around the globe, supporting dialogue, mentoring, and collaboration.

We spearhead vibrant public programming, advocacy projects, and transformational initiatives that create community, cultivate leadership and professional development, and raise awareness of the importance of nurturing women’s voices.

Our events, media, and publications celebrate industry luminaries, preserve the legacy of historic visionaries, and shine a spotlight on the importance of striving for gender parity and of fostering a diversity of expression, both in the theatre world and in the world at large.
