Mrs Lincoln’s Dressmaker by Prudence Wright Holmes is based on the true story of Mary Todd Lincoln and her black dressmaker, Lizzy Keckly. They were best friends until their friendship and their lives were irrevocably shattered by the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
