Girl Be Heard Seeking Stage Manager, Dramaturg, and more!

Girl Be Heard is seeking the following positions for our upcoming performance Embodi(ED) at HERE Arts Center, February 8th through 21st, 2016 at HERE Arts Center. Embodi(ED) is a documentary theatre and dance piece addressing the issue of eating disorders and the 55 billion-dollar-a-year diet industry. Based on interviews with people of all ages and all genders conducted by Girl Be Heard ensemble members, Embodi(ED) demands media accountability in how images of “beauty” are used against women, fueling a culture of body and food obsession that feeds into eating disorders and a dangerous economic investment in maintaining a culture of hatred for women’s bodies.

Stage Manager: Take notes, communicate schedule with cast and designers, write up rehearsal reports and call the show. Must be available for workshops/rehearsals on Sundays beginning November 1st. Must be available for all tech rehearsals and for the performances. The stage manager will run the board. Small honorarium of $600 is provided.

Dramaturg: The dramaturg will provide research, statistics and assist in the development of the script. The dramaturg will help coordinate the work devised by the group and create a cohesive script. Small honorarium of $300 provided.

Media Designer: Design projection, video and sound for Embodi(ED). The designer will need to be present for all of the tech rehearsals as well as any additional rehearsals as noted by the director. The media designer will be required to attend production meetings. They will not be required to run the board during performances. Small honorarium of $300 provided.

Lighting Designer: Design lights for Embodi(ED). The designer will need to be present for all of the production meetings and tech rehearsals as well as any additional rehearsals as noted by the director. Lighting Designer will need to work in partnership with the media designer. Small honorarium of $300 provided.

Costume Designer: Design costumes for Embodi(ED). The designer will need to be present for all of the tech rehearsals as well as any additional rehearsals as noted by the director. The costume designer will have to work within the costume budget. Small honorarium of $300 provided.

Set Designer: The set designer will design and build the set for the show. The designer will need to be present for all of the tech rehearsals as well as any additional rehearsals as noted by the director. They must be able to work within the set budget allotted for this show. Small honorarium of $300 provided.
