POLYTHEATRICAL EXTRAVAGANZA ABOUT TO EXPLODE at HOWL!HAPPENING
“AFTER THE WALL,” a multicultural, multidimensional, multidisciplinary, multimedia play about walls around the world and throughout time, takes the stage in a one-night-only preview at Howl! Happening on February 23rd at 7 pm. With comedy, drama, song, dance, projections and soundscapes that envelop the audience, the theatrical extravaganza aims to shake us up and
“start the conversation.”
Written and directed by LPTW member Melba LaRose of avant-garde independent theatre fame and Artistic Director of NY Artists Unlimited, the play takes us on a wild ride from Ancient Mesopotamia to a comic prehistoric tribal council, a hot trip through the desert with the lost tribe of Israel, flight from the cotton fields of the Old South, to valiant survival through humor in Sachsenhausen, Berlin before-during-after the wall, then sambas through the military regime in Brazil, across the US-Mexico Border, to culture clash in a Prague cafe, and lands in a university
classroom where we learn about the biggest wall of all in outer space. The professor’s young daughter (Evangeline Ramos, in photo) then opens her arms to an envisioned Utopia, where there are no walls between us.
You will laugh, cry, learn, question, be inspired – you may even get up and dance! The nontraditionally cast ensemble includes: Tinuke Adetunji, Colette Ambo, Carmela Davis,
Michelangelo Del Rosario, Olya Grynko, Evangeline Ramos, and Krystal KC Wilson. Lindsay Shields – Multimedia Designer, Luigi protege Francis J. Roach – Choreographer, Frances Eldred
– Costumer, Victor Vauban Jr. – Stage Manager.
“After the Wall” premieres full-length (8 hours) at SynerFest, a festival of art-science-innovation, in Valencia, Spain, in the October.
There is a $10 requested donation, which goes 100% to the Actors Fund. Make reservations below. Seating is limited.
