DESCRIPTION:ON HER SHOULDERS\nPERFORMANCE AND READING SERIES\nWomen have been writing plays for a thousand years\, how many can you name?\nOn Her Shoulders presents Anna Cora Mowatt’s “Fashion”\non June 17th at 8PM\, in the Lang Student Center\, at the New School for Drama\,\n55 West 13th Street.\nAdmission is free and seats are available on a first come\, first serve basis.\nUnder the guidance of playwright Andrea Lepcio\, and performer Lillian Rodriguez\, On Her Shoulders seeks to inform and reward the public with readings and performances of the works different female playwrights throughout history\, giving attention to these artists whose voices are too infrequently heard.\nThe organization offers monthly readings\, lead by dynamic and diverse theatre directors. Artists\, educators\, producers\, students and the interested public will be invited to gather monthly to hear one of the stage-worthy plays read by a team of professional actors. Each reading includes either an introduction or post-performance discussion by a scholar or biographer\, who is an expert on the author and period.
