DESCRIPTION:Meet the Theatre Women who were powerhouses in the Suffragist Movement\, with a special spotlight on:\n\n Introduction by Mari Lyn Henry\n\n"Spotlight On" Segments by Paula Ewin\, Ginger Grace\, Laura E. Johnston\n\n"In Her Own Words" selections by Students from the School of Drama along with readings of:\n\nThe Parrot Cage by Mary Shaw\, How the Vote Was Won by Cecily Hamilton and Christopher St. John\, and Izetta Jewel's groundbreaking 1924 Convention Speech.\n\nRSVP to onhershouldersreservations@gmail.com\n\nFREE Admission\n\n \n\nON HER SHOULDERS is dedicated to reclaiming the history of women in theatre\, particularly the playwrights who have been contributing to the Western Canon for 1000 years. Founded in 2013\, the program has presented plays dating from 1668 to 1970. Special presentations also look at women who were performers and producers and  how their careers influenced  the modern stage.\n\nOHS is produced by Melissa Attebery and Melody Brooks\, Producing Artistic Director\, NPTC. Kristin Heckler is Assistant Producer.\n\n \n\nThis program was made possible\, in part\, by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature\, and in part\, with public funds from the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs\, in partnership with the City Council.\n\n
