SUMMARY:Julia's Reading Room: PRO BONO
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, April 25th\n6-8PM\n\nGrand Central Library\n135 East 46th Street\nBetween Third & Lexington Avenues\n2nd Floor\, Teen Center\n\n \n\nPro Bono\nBy LPTW Member Natalie Bates\nDirected by Catherine Siracusa\n\nPro Bono focuses on an attorney faced with two cases that shake her conscience and her sense of family loyalty to their foundations. Pressured by her sister to pull strings to get child-pornography charges dropped against her college-grad nephew\, Elena puts her reputation on the line with disastrous results. She carries her bitterness at the outcome of that case into a pro-bono defense of an undocumented immigrant accused of raping his step-daughter. She's about to 'phone it in' for her Salvadorian client when his brother appears and opens her eyes to what a real miscarriage of justice can mean for a whole people.
